Neil Eppel

Neil is the CEO of Avant-Garde Private Equity. He has qualified as a CA(SA) with a BCom Hons Tax from University of Witwatersrand. After completing articles at Grant Thornton in 1995, Neil pursued a successful career in structured finance, implementing several billion Rands of local and cross border transactions.

He joined newly founded boutique firm Mettle Limited as its first employee in 1996. In 1999, he was appointed Head of Structured Finance of Mettle Limited.

He then moved to Bravura in 2005 to further pursue his interest in international structured finance. In 2009, he decided to focus on the equity side of the balance sheet; and joined Sasfin Private Equity. He was appointed Head of Sasfin Private until 2019, when he left to form Avant-Garde Private Equity. Neil was the executive director of Sasfin Private Equity, member of Sasfin group strategy and executive management committees, as well as serving as a non-executive director on several portfolio company boards.

Neil has become known for his insightful; dynamic and enterprising value add approach to private equity.
